HOW WILL THE TRAINING BE USEFUL?
Resilience and risk reduction is a very pertinent issue for the sustainability of development interventions and for creating more resilient communities from tremors and stresses related to disasters or climate change, which if not mitigated with adequate measures push communities into further poverty. Often the local government has some funds, however it doesn’t get utilized for the benefit of local communities unless they voice strongly for it. For instance, communities might need government support to strengthen some embankment or pave canals to prevent floods, to construct a safety zone for evacuation, renovation of schools & hospitals to prevent causalities during a disaster.

Takeshi Komino, Country Representative of CWS Japan. Also serves as Secretary General and a member of Executive Committee for Asian Disaster Reduction and Response Network (ADRRN), and Regional Steering Group member of World Humanitarian Summit (WHS). In addition, he plays joint secretariat function for Japan CSO Coalition for DRR (JCC-DRR), Steering Group member of Humanitarian Innovation.
