Influencing Positive Change

HOW WILL THE TRAINING BE USEFUL?

National level organization are considered agents of change as they amplify community voice through awareness raising and networking. They play an instrumental role in education and changing public opinion and often collaborate on initiatives to ensure that social development concerns of communities at national level. This enables problem solving at national level by engaging local authorities, decision makers in government, media and other key stakeholders at different stages of the development process.

To achieve effective sustainable change, NGOs must have the ability to plan and facilitate efficient communication processes that mobilize efforts at both the organizational and programmatic levels. Awareness raising and networking is a key to enabling positive policy change in favor of marginalized communities. In many cases however, the strengths and capabilities of the community are often underutilized due to an unfavorable ecosystem for local action, limited funds and inexperience.

TRAINING OBJECTIVES

– Being able to demonstrate an understanding of tools and approaches required for influencing decision making towards sustainable change
– Enhancing knowledge on developing a strategic approach to policy engagement and its communication
– Equipping participants on designing campaigns for social change through policy reforms

WHO IS IT FOR?

– Humanitarian and development practitioners
– Middle to senior level project or program managers
– Coordinators of national level organizations

All applicants must have interest and some prior experience in networking and linkages development

MEET THE TRAINER

Qadeer Baig, currently the CEO and Principal Consultant of the NGO Resource Centre has over 20 years of work experience in international humanitarian and development organizations, program management, Influencing for positive change and networking. He holds a Master’s degree in NGO management from the London school of economics. He has designed, facilitated and led numerous workshops, policy influencing campaigns, evidence-based policy influencing workshop for CSOs and relevant networks in Pakistan and internationally on issues of enabling policy environment for NGOs, legal and fiscal reforms in south Asia, child and early-age marriages, women empowerment, curriculum reforms and human dignity.
