As part of the Girls Education Projects in Afghanistan, skills based classes along with the regular curriculum are added to the school routine. Through this component of the project, 60 skills based classes on topics such as role playing, painting, drawing, hand embroidery, health & hygiene, glass painting, stitching and dyeing are conducted in project participating schools per year. This gives girls a chance to learn different skills and also empowers them economically in their future lives. Activities such as debates, speech delivery, and participating in school level competitions, which are also part of this component of the project, helps build the confidence and self-esteem of these young school-going girls in the Nangarhar and Laghman provinces of Afghanistan.
